Summary: 15 August 2007, Brussels - Javier SOLANA, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), made the following statement after the bomb attack committed this morning against a German diplomatic convoy near Kabul in Afghanistan, in which three German citizens were killed:
"I am shocked by today's attack against a German diplomatic convoy near Kabul and I condemn in the strongest possible terms this terrorist act that killed three German citizens and left another one injured.
My first thoughts go to the families of the victims to whom I send my sincerest and heartfelt condolences. I also wish a prompt recovery to the person injured.
Immediately after the attack, I have been in contact with the German Minister of Foreign Affairs, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and I have extended my sympathy and support to the German authorities."
