EU Presidency Explanation of Position - United Nations ECOSOC: Report of the Committee for Development Policy 9th Session

Summary: 27 July 2007, Geneva - Explanation of Position by Mr. Miguel Silvestre, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of Portugal to the United Nations, on behalf of European Union, ECOSOC General Segment - Item 13 (a): Resolution on the report of the Committee for Development Policy on its ninth session

The EU would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the input and advice contained in the report of the ninth session of the Committee for Development Policy.

More specifically, its recommendations relating to climate change, poverty eradication and LDC's, focus on issues that the EU considers to be of utmost importance in addressing today's development challenges.

At the same time, the EU would like to reaffirm the right of the ECOSOC to consider the recommendations of its subsidiary bodies and act on them as it deems appropriate.
