Summary: 29 July 2007, Brussels - Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), has appointed Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger as EU representative in the European Union - Russia - United States team charged with facilitating negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina on the future of Kosovo.
Ambassador Ischinger will make every effort to achieve real and meaningful negotiations between the parties. Kosovo is a key priority for the European Union. The High Representative will continue to closely follow the situation and his frequent contacts with the parties with the aim to achieve a lasting and sustainable solution to the question.
