EUHR Solana welcomes EUFOR's operation in support of ICTY in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Summary: EUHR Solana welcomes EUFOR's operation in support of ICTY in Bosnia and Herzegovina (8 March 2007: Brussels)

Javier SOLANA, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), welcomes the search operation conducted this morning in Banja Luka by EUFOR forces as part of the ongoing commitment to bring persons indicted for war crimes (PIFWCs) to justice. The operation was conducted by EUFOR working with the Republika Srpska local police, in support to the ICTY (International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia).

While noting that the responsibility for full cooperation with the ICTY rests with the BiH authorities, EUFOR will continue to provide support to the Tribunal, including the detention of persons indicted for war crimes.

HR Solana notes that the operation conducted today underscores the EU's and EUFOR's continued commitment to this objective.
