"I welcome the agreement between President Arafat and Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) on the composition of the Palestinian Authority's cabinet. I have been in constant contact with Yasser Arafat and Abu Mazen.
This new government will benefit from my personal support and that of the whole of the European Union. We are very satisfied by the conclusion of the agreement and are ready to collaborate fully with the reformist government to move forward the Palestinian Authority's reform process and the peace process with the immediate publication and application of the road map.
It is time for Israel and the Palestinian Authority resume a constructive dialogue, in the interest of the two peoples who aspire fundamentally to real peace and guaranteed security".
